Hope and Help International is partnering with Veda School of Learning in Chilakaluripet, Andhra Pradesh, India to provide education, physical care and spiritual training to the children of rural uneducated parents. While many organizations provide child care, Hope and Help is committed to a holistic approach to child development.
The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We believe that the spiritual aspect should be at the forefront of any child's development. It was the spiritual impact that such a school can have that led director, Surala Persie Swarupa (Dolly), to begin Veda. She realized that children can be the key to reaching India with the Gospel. As the children learn the Bible at school, they are able to share it when they go back home. Parents know that their children are getting the best education possible, and that this education will stop the cycle of poverty. They are thankful for this and are open to the message that Veda proclaims.
At Veda, the curriculum follows the highest academic standards. Veda is a residential school that is home to more than 1,300 students. While there, the children are given a top-quality education. The government of India requires that all 7th and 10th grade students take government exams. Veda's 7th and 10th graders consistently have a near 100% passing rate on these tests.
Not only is each child encouraged to develop the basic educational skills, but there is an emphasis on his/her physical, emotional and social development as well. While at Veda, children receive three nourishing meals each day. Additionally, they are given medical care as needed. This care is provided in a loving and comforting environment that fosters security and proper self-esteem.
There are children who desire to study at Veda but who can't afford it. These children come from a poor rural background with working parents whose income averages less than $200 US per year. Most of the parents are in agricultural work and their livelihood depends completely on weather conditions. A few are day laborers - they seek employment for that day. If they find work, there's money for food that day, but if no t...
Some of the children have lost one or both parents to death or abandonment. If there is a parent remaining, or if the child is living with an extended family member, the financial situation and living conditions are worse. The thoughts of each day are consumed by the need to merely survive; education is an impossibility.
For these children Hope and Help is creating a relationship that will impact both the sponsor and the child for now and for eternity. The cost to house, feed, clothe and educate a child at Veda's residential school is $34 per month.
If you choose to become a sponsor, we will pair you with one special girl or boy who needs your help. We will send you his/her picture along with some personal information. You will also receive updates on your child, as well as new photos, so that you can see and read about your child's progress.
Please pray about sponsoring a student through HHI. It will change his or her life - and yours - for eternity!

There are some children who want to attend Veda, but because they haven't had the opportunity to go to school, they are behind the proper grade level for their age. They need to get caught up before they are ready for Veda. To meet this need, Dolly, the Director of Veda, has established bridging schools. Click here to read more.
